Areas of Responsibility

RECREATION GROUNDS

The Parish Council leases two Recreation Grounds:

  • Harmer Hill, Located in Shotton Lane and leased from Pimhill Farms at an annual rent of £150.00 per annum
  • Myddle, Located at the rear of the school and leased from Shropshire Council at a rent of £200.00 per annum
  • Both Recreation Grounds are open space areas and are maintained by the Parish Council for the use by local residents.

The Parish Council is responsible for the grass cutting of both sites and contracts out the work. The contract is currently held by Nobridge Ltd. of Cold Hatton.

Dogs are allowed on both sites and there is a ‘dog fouling order’ in force.

Any concerns or complaints about either of the Recreation Grounds should be addressed to the Parish Clerk or raised with a local Councillor.

 

CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA

The Parish Council owns and maintains a children’s play area which is on Myddle Recreation Ground.

There is a variety of play equipment suitable for young children and a hard surface playing area and goal posts for older children.

The Council employs Mr. Woolley, 3, Hillside, Myddle to make regular checks on the play area and report any concerns to the Clerk. He is also responsible for collecting waste material from the site.

An Annual Inspection of the site is carried out by RoSPA, normally in June.

Any concerns relating to the play area should be reported to Mr. Woolley or the Parish Clerk.

 

WOODLAND AREA

The Parish Council leases from Shropshire County, the area of woodland adjacent to Myddle Recreation Ground.

A full tree inspection has just been completed and where necessary remedial work will be carried out. 

Annual visual inspections are carried out by the tree officer who is currently Councillor Ian Gunton

 

STREETLIGHTS

The Parish Council owns the streetlights in Myddle, Harmer Hill and Yorton.

A maintenance contract is in place and currently held by NWP Electrical based on the Deeside Industrial Estate.

The contract includes a visual inspection of the lights every two weeks, except in the months of May, June and July.

Any faults with the lights can be reported directly to the company on 01244 288288 or to the Parish Clerk who will arrange for repairs to be carried out.

 

BUS SHELTERS

The Parish Council owns and maintains a bus shelter in Myddle, adjacent to the Red Lion Public House and one in the centre of Harmer Hill.
